YPM Declares Massive Support for Adeola, Tinubu, Ahead of 2027 Race

The Yayi Progressive Movement (YPM) has formally declared its full political backing for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signalling a major grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.

The declaration was made on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, during a press briefing held at the Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, where the group officially unveiled its organisational structure and political agenda within the State’s evolving political landscape.

In a strongly worded statement, the movement affirmed its readiness to “mobilise, engage, and deliver overwhelming support” for Senator Adeola’s Governorship ambition, positioning him as its preferred candidate for the Ogun 2027 Governorship contest.

Speaking at the briefing, the Ogun State Coordinator of YPM, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the movement as a disciplined, grassroots-based political structure designed to consolidate support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all levels of governance in the State.

According to him, the movement was deliberately structured to operate from polling units up to Ward and Local Government levels, ensuring deep political penetration and effective voter mobilisation.

“This movement is not ceremonial. It is a disciplined, organised, and result-oriented structure created to ensure that the will of the people is properly expressed at the ballot box,” Kaka stated.

The official inauguration of YPM is slated for Sunday, May 3, 2026, and is expected to attract a cross-section of political stakeholders, youth groups, and party loyalists from across Ogun.

He further explained that the YPM is actively engaging communities across Ogun State, with a strong emphasis on voter education and registration, particularly encouraging eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are not restricting participation to party members alone. Many people have already joined this movement, and we are confident that voter turnout in 2027 will significantly surpass previous elections,” he added.

The group also reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his administration as reform-driven and economically strategic, with policies aimed at long-term national development and stability. It pledged to mobilise massive support for his re-election bid alongside all APC candidates.

At the state level, Hon. Kaka commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as visible progress in infrastructure development and economic management, noting that Ogun State has continued to grow as an industrial and investment hub under his leadership.

He also paid tribute to former Governor Olusegun Osoba and other APC leaders in the state, crediting them for sustaining progressive politics and political stability in Ogun.

Reiterating the movement’s core mission, Kaka described Senator Adeola as a tested legislator with strong administrative capacity and deep grassroots connection, stating that he remains the most suitable candidate to drive Ogun State’s next phase of development.

“Senator Adeola possesses the experience, reach, and political structure required to take Ogun State into a new era of inclusive governance and accelerated development,” he said.

As part of its immediate activities, the YPM announced plans for the deployment of campaign buses, statewide mobilisation tours, and empowerment programmes for loyal members, alongside the formal recognition of patrons and matrons within the movement.

“The people are ready, the structure is in place, and victory is achievable,” Kaka declared confidently.

Other key figures present at the briefing included Hon. Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu (Deputy State Coordinator), Hon. Kehinde Odeneye (Apex Leader), Hon. Anthony Ayodele (Apex Member), Pa Olayiwola Olutunji (Apex Leader), Mr. Olatunji Olojede (Secretary), Mrs. Keji Oduneye (Woman Leader), Sheik Ahmed (State Youth Coordinator), and Comrade Akilo Akeem (Public Relations Officer).
