Missing for 3 Weeks: Enugu Police Launch Probe After Sister’s Viral Cry for Help

The Enugu State Police Command has initiated a full-scale investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a young security guard who has been missing for over three weeks, following a viral video in which his sister publicly appealed for help.
Global Mirror News gathered that the victim reportedly left his residence on April 7, 2026, to resume duty at a private security firm in Enugu State but has not been seen or heard from since. His sudden disappearance has sparked concern, particularly after conflicting accounts emerged regarding efforts made to trace him.
In the emotional video that has since circulated widely on social media, the victim’s sister—who travelled from Abuja to Enugu in search of answers—accused the company of failing to provide clear information about her brother’s whereabouts. She disclosed that the firm claimed to have reported the incident to the police on April 9, two days after he went missing.
According to her, the Police initially requested a photograph of the missing man, which she promptly provided through the company. However, upon visiting the Police station herself days later, she was allegedly informed that the company had neither submitted the photograph nor followed up on the case.
She further revealed that when Police eventually made an arrest in connection with the matter, the suspect’s statement contradicted earlier information she had received, deepening her fears that the case was not being handled with urgency.
“My brother has been missing for three weeks now, and nobody is giving me answers. I’m exhausted and just want help to find him,” she said tearfully in the video, calling on Nigerians to assist in locating her brother.
Reacting to the viral appeal, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and called for immediate action.
“This truly requires thorough investigative action. Kindly avail me with the contact of the video maker so that I’ll know from her the station where the report was made for further necessary action,” he stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The development comes amid growing public scrutiny over missing persons cases and the perceived lack of coordination between private employers and law enforcement Agencies. Observers say the incident underscores the need for stricter accountability and faster response mechanisms when individuals go missing under unclear circumstances.
Global Mirror News gathered that the Police are now working to verify all claims, track the victim’s last known movements, and question individuals connected to the case, including officials of the security company.
As investigations continue, the family and concerned citizens are urging authorities to intensify efforts to ensure the missing man is found and to bring clarity to the troubling circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
