Oyo Govt Demolishes Alleged Kidnappers’ Hideout Linked to Adelabu Family Abduction in Ibadan

The Oyo State Government has demolished a building allegedly used as a hideout by suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her children in Ibadan.

Global Mirror News gathered that the three-bedroom bungalow, located in the Lako Community along Aiyegun–Anaye Road in Ibadan, was pulled down on Monday by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

The demolition followed investigations linking the property to the criminal gang suspected of abducting Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

Mrs. John-Paul, who is the younger sister of Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her children were reportedly kidnapped on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan, triggering widespread concern among residents and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the state.

Government officials said the demolition was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and deny kidnappers and other violent offenders safe havens within Oyo State.

The presence of Police operatives during the exercise underscored the seriousness of the Government’s crackdown on criminal activities and its determination to strengthen public safety.

The State Government maintained that properties found to be serving as operational bases for criminal activities would face appropriate sanctions in line with existing laws and security policies aimed at protecting lives and property.

Residents of the Lako Community who witnessed the demolition welcomed the development, expressing hope that it would serve as a deterrent to criminal elements and contribute to improved security in the area.

The Government further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes.

Global Mirror News reports that the demolition marks another significant step in Oyo State’s campaign against insecurity, as authorities intensify measures to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore public confidence in the state’s security architecture.

Security Agencies are continuing investigations into the kidnapping case, while efforts remain underway to apprehend all suspects connected to the abduction and related criminal activities.
