Nollywood in Mourning as Family Confirms Alexx Ekubo’s Death After Battle With Kidney Cancer

The family of popular Nollywood Actor, Alexx Ekubo, has officially confirmed his passing following a battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In a statement shared on the late Actor’s official Instagram page on Wednesday, the family disclosed that Ekubo died at Evercare Hospital in Lagos after complications related to the terminal illness.
Global Mirror News gathered that the statement described the Actor’s final moments as courageous and faith-filled, noting that he endured his pain with remarkable strength and hope despite the severity of his condition.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the family stated.
“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.”
According to the family, the 40-year-old Actor remained spiritually strong throughout his illness and held firmly to his faith while receiving treatment.
They further appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy during the mourning period while also requesting prayers for the peaceful repose of the Actor’s soul.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss,” the statement added.
The family also revealed that details regarding funeral arrangements would be announced later.
The death of the Nollywood star has continued to generate emotional reactions across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with fans, colleagues, and celebrities paying glowing tributes to the late Actor, who was widely admired for his charisma, talent, and contributions to the movie industry.
