Police Arrest Driver Allegedly Behind Clergyman’s Abduction, Murder

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a driver and domestic staff member allegedly linked to the abduction and murder of his employer, a Pentecostal bishop based in Asaba, Delta State.
Global Mirror News learnt that the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, during an intelligence-led operation carried out in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to Police Authorities, the suspect had served as a driver to the late cleric, a Bishop of the End-Reconciliation Ministry, Asaba, before allegedly masterminding the deadly plot alongside other accomplices.
Investigations revealed that after allegedly abducting and killing the Bishop, the suspect fled to Anambra State with the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in an attempt to secretly sell off the vehicle.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that police operatives acted on credible intelligence which led to the arrest of the suspect and another individual believed to be the buyer of the stolen SUV.
“The stolen Prado Jeep has been recovered, and the suspects are currently in custody undergoing further interrogation,” Ikenga stated.
Global Mirror News further gathered that detectives have intensified efforts to track down other members of the criminal gang believed to have participated in the gruesome murder.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has cautioned residents against employing domestic workers and drivers without proper background checks.
He urged members of the public to always verify the identities and profiles of household staff and remain vigilant to suspicious conduct capable of threatening lives and property.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice for the slain Cleric and bringing every individual connected to the crime to book.
