JTF Warns Of Planned Terror Attacks During Eid-el-Kabir, Urges Nigerians To Stay Vigilant

The Joint Task Force has warned Nigerians to remain highly vigilant ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations following intelligence reports of possible terrorist attacks targeting civilians and public gatherings across parts of the Country.

Global Mirror News gathered that Security Authorities advised residents to avoid crowded and unsecured areas, report suspicious movements promptly, and cooperate with security personnel deployed for the festive period.

According to the advisory, terrorists and criminal elements may attempt to exploit the Sallah celebrations to launch attacks on worship centres, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public places where large crowds are expected to gather.

Global Mirror News learnt that security operatives have already intensified surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence gathering in vulnerable locations to prevent any breach of security during the celebrations.

Citizens were also urged to remain calm but cautious, while parents and guardians were advised to closely monitor their children and discourage unnecessary night movements during the holiday period.

The security outfit further appealed to community leaders, transport unions, and religious organisations to support ongoing security efforts by sharing credible intelligence capable of helping security agencies foil planned attacks.

The warning comes amid renewed concerns over rising terror attacks, kidnappings, and banditry in several parts of Nigeria in recent months.

Authorities reassured Nigerians that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, while urging the public not to spread panic or unverified information capable of creating fear among residents.
