Yewa Diocese Bishop Commends Abiodun Over APC Consensus Candidate for 2027 Ogun Guber Race

Ayetoro, Ogun State — The Bishop of Yewa Diocese, Methodist Church Nigeria, Rt. Revd. Ayo Adeniyi, has commended Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for his role in fostering unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), leading to the emergence of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The Bishop gave the commendation during his episcopal address at the 2026 Synod of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Yewa Diocese, hosted by the Ayetoro Circuit.

According to Bishop Adeniyi, Governor Abiodun’s leadership and commitment to inclusiveness have helped to stabilize the political landscape in Ogun State, particularly within the APC, thereby making way for a broadly accepted candidate ahead of the next gubernatorial poll.
He noted that the emergence of Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, represents a significant milestone in the political history of the state, as it signals a breakthrough for Ogun West in its long-standing quest to produce a governor.

“The development is not only commendable but also historic,” the Bishop stated, adding that it reflects a growing sense of fairness, equity, and unity among the political leadership in the state.
Bishop Adeniyi further urged political stakeholders and citizens of Ogun State to sustain the spirit of cooperation and peaceful engagement as the state prepares for the 2027 elections.

The Synod, which brought together clergy and laity from across the diocese, also served as a platform to deliberate on spiritual, social, and national issues affecting the church and society at large.
