Three killed, seven injured in Ogun auto crash – female child among victims

A tragic road accident along the Abeokuta–Siun highway in Ogun State has claimed the lives of three persons, including a female child, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Global Mirror News gathered that the fatal crash occurred on Saturday evening at the Onipepeye axis of the busy corridor, involving a commercial passenger car and a heavy-duty truck.
According to the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident happened at about 5:40 p.m., prompting a swift emergency response by rescue operatives who arrived at the scene within minutes.
A total of 10 persons were reportedly involved in the crash, comprising adult males, adult females, and children. Out of this number, seven victims suffered injuries and were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
However, three persons — two adult males and a female child — were confirmed dead, with their remains deposited at the hospital morgue.
Preliminary investigations by FRSC officials indicate that the crash was caused by excessive speed and loss of control, leading to a collision between the vehicles.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, while reacting to the incident, urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure proper vehicle maintenance to reduce the rising cases of avoidable road crashes.
The Abeokuta–Sagamu road remains a critical transport route in Ogun State but has witnessed recurrent accidents, often linked to reckless driving and poor compliance with traffic regulations.
