Remo Councilors Endorse Dapo Abiodun, Funmi Efuwape, Others Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Remo Legislative Council has officially declared total support and endorsement for key candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Remoland ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle, throwing its weight behind Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for the Ogun East Senatorial seat and Hon. Funmi Efuwape for the Remo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Remo Legislative Forum Summit held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, where lawmakers from Sagamu, Ikenne, and Remo North Local Government Areas gathered under the umbrella of the Remo Councilors’ Forum.

According to the communiqué, the summit focused on reviewing grassroots development, political stability, and governance progress under the APC administration in Remoland and Ogun State.

The forum unanimously aligned with the leadership of the APC in Remoland in endorsing Governor Dapo Abiodun as the sole candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District seat, citing what it described as the “transformative impact” of the governor’s ISEYA development agenda.

The lawmakers highlighted major infrastructural and socio-economic achievements of the administration, including the construction of over 1,500 kilometres of roads, completion of the Gateway International Airport project, and improvements in healthcare, agriculture, education, youth empowerment, social welfare, and security.

The council declared its “unwavering and unalloyed loyalty” to the governor, stating that the endorsement was based on the administration’s commitment to “Building Our Future Together.”

The forum also endorsed Hon. Funmi Efuwape, popularly known as FAECO, as its sole consensus candidate for the Remo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers described her endorsement as a reflection of equity, fairness, harmonious representation, and democratic stability within Remoland.

They praised Efuwape’s experience in public administration, noting her previous service as Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, and Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.

In addition, the legislators passed a vote of confidence in the Ogun State APC State Working Committee and local government party structures for sustaining internal discipline and unity within the party.

The communiqué further confirmed the endorsement of four APC candidates for the Ogun State House of Assembly seats across Remoland. They include Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye for Remo North, Hon. Seyi Odumiywa for Ikenne, Hon. Damilare Bello for Sagamu 1, and Hon. Olapeju Ayodele for Sagamu 2.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by Hon. Ayodeji A. Dada of Ward 7, Remo North Local Government, and seconded by Hon. Muyideen Alayo of Ward 3, Sagamu Local Government, before receiving unanimous approval from participants at the summit.

As part of its resolutions, the forum directed all councilors to immediately commence grassroots mobilization and strengthen campaign structures across wards and polling units.

The lawmakers also charged party faithful to intensify voter sensitization efforts and resist political distractions from opposition parties ahead of the elections.

The communiqué was jointly signed by Rt. Hon. Olusegun Jolaoso, Leader of the Remo Legislative Council; Rt. Hon. Micheal Odujoko, Leader of the Ikenne Legislative Council; and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Babalola, Leader of the Sagamu Legislative Council.
