Former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba Alive As Reports Clarify Death Of Another Man With Same Name

There has been widespread clarification following reports circulating online about the death of a man identified as Olusegun Osoba, with many Nigerians initially confusing the deceased with former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba.

Global Mirror News gathered that the late Olusegun Osoba is a different individual who shares the same name with the veteran journalist, politician, and former governor. The development sparked concern across political circles and among supporters after misleading social media posts suggested that the elder statesman had passed away.

However, close associates and political allies of the former governor have dismissed the rumours, confirming that Chief Olusegun Osoba is alive, healthy, and in good condition.

The confusion reportedly emerged after condolence messages and obituary notices mentioning “Olusegun Osoba” surfaced online without proper identification details, leading many readers to wrongly assume the former Governor was involved.

Chief Osoba, a respected figure in Nigerian politics and journalism, served as Governor of Ogun State between 1999 and 2003, after an earlier stint during the Third Republic. He remains one of the prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West.

Several supporters and political associates have since urged the public and media practitioners to verify information properly before sharing sensitive reports, especially involving notable public figures.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement indicating any health emergency involving the former Governor.
