Teen Boy Arrested for Beheading 16-Year-Old Girl

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 16-year-old girl whose body was discovered in a bush area in Pharare Village, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Police said the victim’s remains were found on Friday evening, May 1, 2026, at about 6 p.m., after a report was lodged by concerned residents. Officers who arrived at the scene were initially met by the teenage suspect, who attempted to divert attention with a false account of what transpired.

Provincial Police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, disclosed that the suspect claimed he and the victim were attacked by unknown individuals travelling in a blue Volkswagen Polo. According to his statement, the group—allegedly armed and masked—forced them into a vehicle and took them to a bushy area.

However, police investigations quickly exposed inconsistencies in his narrative. A thorough search of the scene led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including the victim’s head, which had been buried near the body.

Global Mirror News gathered that the suspect, who had been receiving treatment at a local hospital, was apprehended on Saturday following an intensive investigation by the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, Mopani Tracking Team, and Maake Detectives.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been directly linked to the crime, and a weapon believed to have been used has been recovered.

Investigations are ongoing, while a probation officer is expected to assess the suspect in accordance with child protection laws to determine the next legal steps, including his court appearance.

The incident has stirred outrage in the community, with residents demanding justice and stronger security measures.
