Couple Arrested After Missing Ward’s Body Is Recovered From Shallow Grave

A couple in a South-East State has been arrested after the body of their ward, who had earlier been declared missing, was reportedly recovered from a shallow grave.

Global Mirror News gathered that the incident, which has sparked outrage in the community, came to light after residents began questioning the couple over the sudden disappearance of the boy.

According to reports, the child’s father and stepmother were unable to give a clear account of his whereabouts when concerned neighbours and community members demanded answers.

Their responses reportedly raised suspicion among residents, who continued to press the couple for information. The couple were later alleged to have led members of the community to a location where the boy’s decomposing body was found buried in a shallow grave.

A video circulating online shows the suspects being publicly paraded by angry villagers after the body was exhumed. Palm fronds were reportedly placed around their necks as they were forced to move through the community while carrying the remains on a sack.

Residents gathered around the couple, condemning the alleged act and expressing shock over the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

“This is the highest level of wickedness,” a woman was heard saying in the viral video.

The identities of the suspects, the deceased child and the exact community where the incident occurred had not been officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
