Police Officer Shot Dead in Kano Thugs Clash Weeks Before Retirement

A Senior Police Officer attached to the Hotoro Division in Kano State, DSP Sani Isah, has reportedly been shot dead during a violent clash involving rival thugs, just weeks before his scheduled retirement from service.
Global Mirror News gathered that the incident occurred when the Officer and other Security Personnel were deployed to restore order and disperse fighting groups terrorising parts of the State.
According to a source close to the deceased, the thugs allegedly opened fire during the operation using a locally made dane gun, striking the Officer in the process.
“He was working at the Hotoro Division and was deployed with others to disperse the thugs. Unknown to him, some of them had a dane gun, which they used to shoot him,” the source disclosed.
The source added that DSP Isah was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by Medical Personnel.
The late Officer was said to have served in the Nigeria Police Force for more than three decades and was widely respected within his community for his dedication and contributions to society.
“He was a good person who contributed immensely to society, especially within his immediate environment. He was just a few weeks away from retirement before he was killed,” the source added emotionally.
Global Mirror News further gathered that Kano State has witnessed a renewed wave of violent clashes linked to thuggery in recent weeks, with several communities experiencing unrest and insecurity.
Areas reportedly affected include Fagge, Abattoir Market, Koki, Kurnar Asabe, Hotoro and Gyadi-Gyadi, among others, raising fresh concerns among residents over growing violence in the State.
The tragic death of the Officer has sparked grief among colleagues, residents and community members who described the incident as painful and unfortunate, especially considering his imminent retirement after years of service to the Nation.
