‘My Children Keep Asking About Their Grandfather’ — Gospel Singer Lekan Remilekun Speaks on Father’s 26-Year Disappearance

Nigerian Gospel Singer Lekan Remilekun has opened up about the emotional pain of living without answers after his father mysteriously disappeared 26 years ago.

Speaking during an interview on the Talk to B podcast, the singer revealed that his father, Remilekun Amos, has been missing since November 2000, after travelling to Akure, Ondo State, for a gospel ministration.

According to Lekan, his father never returned from the trip, and despite years of waiting and searching, the family has never discovered what became of him.

Global Mirror News gathered that the Gospel Artiste described the experience as one of the deepest wounds his family has endured, saying the uncertainty surrounding his father’s fate has remained a source of grief for more than two decades.

He explained that the pain has become even more difficult in recent years as his own children have begun asking questions about their grandfather.

“My children keep asking about their grandfather,” he said, noting that he often struggles to explain the situation because he himself does not know whether his father is alive or dead.

Reflecting on the emotional toll, Lekan cited a popular Yoruba proverb, saying that while losing a loved one is painful, living without knowing whether the person is alive or dead is an even greater burden. “omo eni ku, san ju omo eni nu lo”

The singer’s revelation has resonated with many Nigerians, drawing sympathy from fans and listeners who described the prolonged uncertainty as a heartbreaking ordeal for any family.

Although more than two decades have passed since the disappearance, the family continues to live with unanswered questions, hoping that one day they may finally learn what happened to Remilekun Amos.
