I Killed Kitan Oyesiku to “Teach Her a Lesson” – Ex Guard

A former security guard of late Ogun State Television broadcaster, Mrs Olakitan “Kitan” Oyesiku, has allegedly confessed to masterminding her killing, claiming he acted to “teach her a lesson” over grievances from the period he worked for her.

Global Mirror News gathered that the suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was among three persons arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the killing of Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, at her residence in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

According to the Police Commissioner, Philip allegedly admitted during interrogation that he recruited two others—Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer—to take part in the attack.

Ojajuni said the suspect told investigators that he planned the attack because of grievances he held against the late broadcaster from the time he worked as a guard at her residence.

“The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,’” the commissioner said.

Police said the attack was allegedly carried out on June 20, 2026. The suspects were accused of first overpowering Adetayo, who was on duty at the residence, before using him to gain access into the compound.

After gaining entry, the suspects allegedly attacked Oyesiku inside the main building before later killing Adetayo, police said.

The bodies of Oyesiku and Adetayo were discovered on June 21 after a report was made at the Owode-Egba Police Station over suspicious activity at the residence.

Detectives who visited the scene reportedly found the front door partially damaged, while the security house inside the compound was locked. Adetayo was found dead inside the security house, while Oyesiku was found in the living room of the main building.

Police also discovered that Oyesiku’s Lexus RX 330 vehicle was missing from the premises, raising suspicion of robbery alongside the killings.

The vehicle was recovered on June 22 through intelligence gathering and technical tracking operations in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State. Police said the ignition key and number plates had been removed, but one of the registration plates was found hidden beneath a seat, helping detectives confirm the vehicle belonged to the deceased broadcaster.

Ojajuni said a handwritten note found at the crime scene was subjected to forensic analysis and generated leads that assisted detectives in identifying and tracing the suspects.

Philip was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was said to be working as a labourer. The two other suspects were subsequently arrested in follow-up operations.

Police said searches conducted at locations linked to the suspects led to the recovery of exhibits, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank and a black pen.

The Commissioner said the investigation is still ongoing and noted that the suspects remain entitled to due process as the command works to consolidate evidence for prosecution.

He assured residents that the police would pursue justice for Oyesiku and Adetayo and bring every person linked to the crime to book.
