Gunmen Storm Police Base, Kill Officers in Fresh Security Breach

Suspected armed attackers have launched a deadly assault on a police formation in Kwara State, leaving at least three officers dead in what underscores Nigeria’s deepening security challenges, Global Mirror News reports.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday at a Police Mobile Force (PMF) camp in the Tenebo area of Kaiama Local Government Area. According to initial reports, the assailants—believed to be heavily armed—invaded the facility in large numbers and engaged security personnel in a fierce gun battle.
Sources indicate that the attackers overpowered officers on duty, killing three policemen and injuring others during the raid. The incident triggered panic across the community, with residents fleeing their homes as gunshots echoed through the area.
Local accounts suggest the operation bore the hallmarks of coordinated terrorist-style assaults, which have become increasingly frequent in parts of Kwara, particularly around Kaiama axis bordering forested regions known for armed group activity.
This latest attack adds to a troubling pattern of violence in the state. In recent weeks, similar incursions have targeted both military and civilian locations, raising concerns among security analysts about the expanding footprint of armed groups in North-Central Nigeria.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to release an official statement detailing the full extent of casualties or confirming arrests. However, security operatives are believed to have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, while efforts to stabilise the affected community continue.
Global Mirror News understands that the recurring attacks in Kwara are intensifying calls for reinforced security presence, improved intelligence gathering, and urgent federal intervention to prevent further loss of lives.
