Gunmen Raze Homes, Abduct Cleric’s Nine-Year-Old Son During Midnight Attack

Residents of Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, were thrown into panic in the early hours of Friday after armed gunmen invaded the community, destroyed residential buildings, and abducted a nine-year-old boy.

The attackers reportedly stormed the Area at about 1:30 a.m., firing gunshots indiscriminately to terrorize residents before carrying out the abduction. The victim, identified as Master Olaosebikan Victor, is the son of a Local Pastor, Isaac Olaosebikan.

Sources in the Community confirmed to Global Mirror News that many residents fled into nearby Communities and surrounding bushes as the gunmen unleashed terror on the Area. During the attack, two residential buildings were reportedly vandalized and damaged by the assailants.

Global Mirror News equally gathered that Pastor Olaosebikan escaped into the bush after the armed men invaded his residence, but his son was seized and taken away by the attackers. Another resident, Joel Owalekan, also reportedly escaped unharmed after gunmen attempted to force their way into his home, causing damage to the property.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the Command had launched a full-scale operation to rescue the abducted child and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

According to the Police, the incident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday, prompting the immediate deployment of security personnel to the affected community.

Jimoh disclosed that operatives of the Police Command, in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps, had commenced coordinated search-and-rescue operations, combing surrounding forests and suspected escape routes in a bid to locate the abducted boy.

He added that investigations were ongoing, while evidence recovered from the scene was being analyzed to aid efforts aimed at identifying and tracking the perpetrators.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has directed tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and other security units to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of the victim and the arrest of the kidnappers.

Global Mirror News gathered that security agencies are also working closely with local vigilante groups and other stakeholders as part of broader efforts to restore calm and prevent further attacks in the area.

The incident has once again raised concerns over rising insecurity and kidnapping activities in parts of Ondo State, with residents urging authorities to strengthen security surveillance across vulnerable communities.
