Gunmen Invade Ogun Estate, Abduct Three Residents, Shoot Woman Amid Rising Security Concerns

Residents of Ipojo Golden Estate in the Oke-Eri area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, were thrown into panic after suspected bandits invaded the community and abducted three persons during a late-evening attack.

Global Mirror News gathered that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday May 11 when over 15 heavily armed men reportedly stormed the estate, forcing their way into a residence and carting away two women and a man.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers, who were said to be carrying sophisticated weapons, ransacked the building before escaping into a nearby forest with the victims. A woman was also reportedly shot during the operation, further heightening fear among residents of the area.

Residents disclosed that the gunmen attempted to break into another house within the estate but were unsuccessful.

Sources in the community revealed that the head of the affected family, identified as Yesiru Badewa, was away on official duty at the time of the attack.

Speaking on the incident, a community leader, Kehinde, described the development as shocking, noting that the estate had enjoyed relative peace before the attack.

He called on the Ogun State Government and Security Agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the abducted victims and restoring confidence among residents.

“This is a serious concern for all of us. We never expected such an incident in this environment. Government and Security Agencies must act swiftly to restore confidence and ensure the safe return of the victims,” the community leader said.

Also reacting, Badewa expressed deep concern over the condition of one of the abducted victims, who he said was ill before the abduction.

“This has devastated us. One of those taken is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity. We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.

The attack has reportedly triggered widespread fear across the neighborhood, with many residents restricting movement over concerns about further attacks.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command said it had launched a coordinated rescue operation to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that tactical and intelligence operations had already been activated in response to the attack.

“The Ogun State Police Command is fully aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, and has activated necessary tactical and intelligence responses aimed at rescuing the victims and tracking down the perpetrators,” he said.

Global Mirror News reports that the latest incident has renewed concerns over growing insecurity and kidnapping activities in parts of Ogun State, particularly within the Ijebu axis.
