Abducted Teachers Plead for Freedom in Disturbing Kidnappers’ Video

Fresh fears have emerged over the safety of teachers and pupils abducted in Oyo State after their kidnappers released a new video showing some of the victims desperately pleading for help and immediate intervention.
In the emotional footage, two female teachers appeared visibly distressed as they appealed to authorities, community leaders, and concerned Nigerians to do everything possible to secure their release. One of the women spoke in Yoruba, while another, who was seen carrying a young child believed to be about two years old, spoke in English, begging for urgent assistance. The victims appeared traumatized as they called for swift action to end their ordeal.
The abductees were among dozens of students and teachers kidnapped during an attack on schools in the Ahoro-Esiele area of Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Reports indicate that armed kidnappers stormed the community, abducting pupils, teachers, and other residents before fleeing into nearby forests.
In another distress message from captivity, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, reportedly claimed that the kidnappers had selected one of the captives for execution following what was described as a failed rescue attempt. Her statement has further heightened anxiety among families and residents awaiting the safe return of the victims.
The abduction has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with entertainers, religious leaders, and civil society groups demanding stronger security measures and the immediate rescue of the victims. The incident has also reignited concerns over the rising wave of kidnappings targeting schools and vulnerable communities across the country.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had earlier assured residents that security agencies were working tirelessly to secure the release of all those held captive. However, growing pressure continues to mount on authorities as negotiations and rescue efforts remain ongoing.
The latest video has intensified public concern, with many Nigerians calling for urgent and coordinated action to prevent another tragic outcome and ensure the safe return of the abducted teachers and students.
