NURTW Lagos Organising Secretary Dies After Gunmen Attack, Tension Grips Motor Parks

Anxiety has spread across several motor parks in Lagos State following the reported death of the Organising Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Toba Ajiboye, after he was allegedly shot by unidentified gunmen.

Global Mirror News gathered that Ajiboye, a well-known transport Union official and socialite, died on Tuesday July 14, 2023 after reportedly battling injuries he sustained during a gun attack on Sunday night.

According to reports, the attackers opened fire on Ajiboye under circumstances that are yet to be clarified. He was said to have sustained serious gunshot wounds and was initially believed to have survived the attack before later succumbing to his injuries.

His death has thrown members of the NURTW, colleagues, associates, and supporters into mourning, while creating tension in some motor parks across the State.

As of the time of filing this report, the motive behind the attack remains unknown. Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm whether any arrests have been made.

The development has raised fresh concerns over security within the transport sector, with transport workers and residents calling on law enforcement authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
