Woman Recounts Horrific Kidnap Ordeal After Dramatic Rescue in Ogun Forest

A woman identified as Temiloluwa has recounted the terrifying experience she endured after being abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Ogbere axis of Ogun State, revealing that she had already prepared herself for death before security operatives rescued her.

Global Mirror News reports that Temiloluwa was among five travellers rescued by the Ogun and Lagos State joint security outfit, Operation Kosaye, during a coordinated rescue mission in the Ogbere forest on Friday, June 26, 2026.

Speaking with journalists at the Police Training School in Iperu-Remo on Saturday, the visibly emotional victim described the rescue as a miracle, saying she had already prayed for the repose of her soul after losing hope of surviving the ordeal.

According to her, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 25, while she was travelling from Edo State to Lagos to spend her annual leave with her family. Temiloluwa, an Information Technology Officer with a private company in Edo State, said she was in the company of two senior colleagues when heavily armed kidnappers ambushed their vehicle around Ogbere in Ijebu East Local Government Area.

She recalled that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately, throwing motorists into panic as several vehicles collided while attempting to escape the scene.

“The incident happened around 4 p.m. We suddenly heard gunshots everywhere. There was a vehicle in front of us and another behind us. In the confusion, our vehicle crashed into another one. I hit my head against the front seat and one of my teeth came off,” she narrated.

Temiloluwa said while their driver managed to escape, one of her colleagues, despite having an opportunity to flee, stayed behind after seeing that she had sustained serious injuries.

“The Engineer sitting in front could have escaped too, but when he saw me covered in blood, he couldn’t leave me behind,” she said.

The victims were reportedly stripped of their cash, jewellery, wristwatches and other valuables before being forced to trek for about four hours into a dense forest.

She further disclosed that the kidnappers compelled them to contact their families and demanded a ransom of N20 million for their release.

Hope, however, returned when the sound of heavy gunfire erupted in the forest during the rescue operation.

“We didn’t know what was happening. The kidnappers suddenly started running while we hid in fear. One of us eventually looked around and realised it was the Police. That was the last thing I expected,” she recalled.

Temiloluwa admitted that she had completely accepted her fate before the security operatives arrived.

“I had already accepted that I would not survive. I even prayed to God to grant me access to His kingdom if I died. But seeing the Police come to rescue us completely changed my perception. Since bringing us out of the forest, they have treated us with care and dignity,” she said.

She commended the courage and professionalism of the security personnel involved in the operation, noting that the experience had changed her previous perception of the Police.

Temiloluwa also appealed to the Federal and State Governments to improve the welfare of security personnel through better salaries, allowances and modern operational equipment.

According to her, adequately motivating officers who risk their lives daily would strengthen the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the Country.

“They should be properly equipped, and everything concerning their welfare should be top-notch. These are the people putting their lives on the line so that the rest of us can sleep peacefully. Government must continue to boost their morale so they can do even more for Nigerians,” she added.
