Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims Abandoned by Fleeing Terrorists

Six kidnapped women and children from Zamfara State have regained their freedom after spending more than three months in captivity, following a successful Military operation that forced fleeing terrorists to abandon them.

The rescue was carried out by troops of the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA during a sustained offensive against terrorist hideouts in Unguwan Doka, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, on June 29, 2026.

According to Military sources, the victims were discovered after the terrorists fled the area due to intense pressure from the advancing troops.

Global Mirror News gathered that the rescued victims include four women and two children. They were identified as Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (25), Fatima Saidu (22), Huzaima Nasiru (16), Usman Surajo (1) and Dauda Isiaku (18 months).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were abducted on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The victims, all residents of Bilbis village, recounted that they endured more than three months in terrorist captivity before they were eventually abandoned as Military operations intensified across the region.

Military authorities said the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.

The development highlights the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across Nigeria’s North-West. The Military has sustained offensive operations targeting criminal camps and hideouts, leading to the rescue of abducted persons and the disruption of terrorist activities in several communities.

Global Mirror News reports that Security Agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining pressure on armed groups operating in the region while urging residents to continue providing credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
