Three Killed, Five Injured in Midnight Ibadan Auto Crash

No fewer than three persons lost their lives while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a tragic lone-vehicle accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday July 13 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The fatal crash happened at about 12:30 a.m. at Alabebe, along the Iwo Road–Bank Oloso axis of the city, involving a Toyota Camry carrying several occupants.
Eyewitnesses said the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while travelling along the road. The car subsequently veered off its lane, crashed through the gate of a residential building, knocked down a billboard and a concrete utility pole before plunging into a roadside drainage.
The impact of the collision left the Toyota Camry badly damaged and trapped some of the occupants inside the mangled wreckage.
Residents and emergency responders immediately swung into action, rescuing the injured victims and conveying them to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were also evacuated from the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to officially determine the cause of the crash. However, investigations are expected to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The latest accident has again raised concerns over road safety and reckless driving, particularly during late-night journeys on major roads in Oyo State.
