Ogun NUJ Honours Kehinde Onasanya, Tunde Kassim at Grand Retirement Celebration

The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Wednesday held a grand ceremony in honour of Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, and former General Manager of OGTV, Mr. Tunde Kassim, as they retired from active service after decades of contributions to Journalism and Public Service.

The event, described by attendees as historic and emotional, was organised under the leadership of Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, to celebrate the outstanding legacies of the two media veterans whose careers have left lasting marks on journalism and public administration in Ogun State.
Global Mirror News gathered that one of the major highlights of the occasion was the formal decoration of Mr. Kehinde Onasanya as a Fellow of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (FNUJ), in recognition of his immense contributions to journalism, governance and humanity.
Onasanya also holds the distinction of being the first Journalist to become the Head of Service in Ogun State, a milestone widely applauded by stakeholders within and outside the media industry.

The ceremony attracted eminent personalities from across the Country, including the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, who travelled from Abuja to personally witness and participate in the celebration.
Also present at the event were members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Labour Leaders, General Managers, Directors, veterans in the Journalism profession, members of the Ogun NUJ State Executive Council, and delegates from the Lagos and Oyo State Councils of the Union.

In a statement signed by Ogun NUJ Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, the Union appreciated all dignitaries, elders and members of the Journalism profession who attended the event and supported the initiative.
According to the statement, the Union, with support from its Patroness, Chief Mrs. Mojisola Oni Quadri, the Gbegbaje of Egbaland and Chief Executive Officer of ONI Electronics, also extended gestures of goodwill and support to the retired veterans in appreciation of their years of dedicated service.
Speakers at the event described the celebration as more than a retirement ceremony, noting that it symbolised excellence, integrity, dedication and selfless service to humanity and the journalism profession.
They added that the legacies of Mr. Kehinde Onasanya and Mr. Tunde Kassim would continue to inspire younger generations of journalists and media professionals across Ogun State and beyond.
