Kidnapped Family Regains Freedom After Sunday Igboho’s Ultimatum in Oyo

Residents of Igboho Community in Oyo State erupted in celebration after a family reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers regained freedom following an ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Global Mirror News gathered that the victims were said to include a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling. Their release reportedly came hours after Igboho gave suspected criminal elements and Fulani Community leaders in the Area a two-hour deadline to ensure the abducted persons were freed.
Videos shared online showed residents singing, dancing and welcoming the victims back to the Community, as news of their release spread across Igboho.
The development followed an earlier video in which Sunday Igboho expressed concern over reported cases of kidnapping, killings and other security threats in the Area.
Addressing community representatives and traditional leaders, the activist accused some members of the Fulani community of being linked to abductions and violent attacks against residents. He also referred to reports involving ransom payments and the alleged killing of a person who delivered money to secure the release of abducted victims.
Global Mirror News learnt that Igboho warned that the community would no longer tolerate repeated cases of kidnapping, insisting that those behind the attacks must release all persons still being held captive.
He said he had remained calm out of respect for appeals made by traditional rulers and elders in the area, but stressed that the restraint should not be taken for weakness.
The activist reportedly threatened to take further action against suspected hideouts if the abducted persons were not released within the deadline.
Although the released family has reportedly returned to the community, details surrounding their abduction, the conditions of their release and whether any ransom was paid were not immediately clear.
Residents have continued to call for stronger security measures in Igboho and other communities in Oyo State amid growing concerns over kidnapping and violent crime.
