Fuel Crisis Grounds Davido in Lagos, Singer Apologises to Fans

Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste Davido has apologised to fans after missing a scheduled performance in Lagos, citing disruptions caused by aviation fuel shortages.

Global Mirror News gathered that the singer, born David Adeleke, was billed to headline a show alongside Zlatan Ibile at a popular Lagos nightlife venue in Ikate Elegushi on Sunday, as part of its fifth anniversary celebration.

However, Davido’s absence at the event sparked reactions among fans who had turned up in anticipation of his performance.

Addressing the situation via his Instagram story on Monday, the artiste attributed the setback to logistical challenges linked to difficulties in sourcing aviation fuel, which disrupted his travel plans.

“The world happened to me yesterday. These wars around the world have really started penetrating. Finding fuel was a problem yesterday to even fly. Everything had to be rescheduled,” he wrote.

He apologised to fans for the inconvenience, assuring them that the missed performance would be rescheduled.

“To my fans that pulled up… sorry I missed it. We’re going to run it back again soon,” he added.

The incident highlights the growing impact of global fuel supply disruptions on the aviation sector, with rising costs and shortages increasingly affecting travel logistics and event schedules across multiple regions.

Despite the setback, Davido congratulated the event organisers and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting future engagements.
