From NYSC Member to JAMB Boss: Tinubu Appoints Segun Aina as Youngest Registrar

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, making him the youngest person ever to lead the examination Agency.
Global Mirror News reports that Aina will officially take over from Professor Is-haq Oloyede after the expiration of his second tenure on July 31, 2026.
The appointment has attracted National attention due to Aina’s remarkable rise from serving at JAMB as a National Youth Service Corps member to becoming the Head of the Institution decades later.
According to information released by the State House, Aina began his professional career at JAMB during his NYSC posting, where he gained practical experience in admissions processing, examination management, and data-driven institutional administration. Those early experiences reportedly influenced his passion for educational reforms and digital innovation.
Global Mirror News gathered that Aina received all his University Education in the United Kingdom. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from University of Kent in 2008 before earning a Master’s Degree in Internet Computing and Network Security from Loughborough University in 2009.
He later completed a PhD in Digital Signal Processing at the same University and also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
At the age of 39, Aina was promoted to Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, becoming one of the youngest professors in the field in Nigeria.
Beyond academia, he has worked extensively as a consultant and technology adviser for both public and private sector institutions. His advisory roles have included projects for the Job Creation Unit in the Office of the Vice President as well as several state governments, focusing on digital transformation, operational reforms, and technology systems.
Aina also consulted for major examination Agencies, including the National Examinations Council and National Business and Technical Examinations Board, where he contributed to examination integrity systems and ICT-driven reforms.
In 2010, he co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Limited, a Technology and Engineering Management Company with interests in Education Technology, Agriculture, Hospitality, Technical Training, and Capacity Development.
Global Mirror News further reports that the newly appointed JAMB registrar is affiliated with several professional engineering bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
He has also authored nearly 30 peer-reviewed academic papers in engineering and technology-related disciplines.
