Tricycle Rider Killed, Two Injured in Ogun Road Crash

A tricycle rider has lost his life while two other passengers sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving a commercial tricycle and a Howo truck along the Sango-Ijoko Road in Ogun State.
Global Mirror News gathered that the tragic accident occurred on Friday June 26 night at Alasia Bus Stop, inbound Sango-Ijoko Road, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
The Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday. He disclosed that preliminary findings by the Agency indicated that the crash was caused by poor visibility, with an eyewitness attributing the incident to blurry vision while driving.
Akinbiyi explained that the tricycle rider died at the scene of the accident, while two male occupants of the tricycle sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency responders evacuated the injured victims to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the body of the deceased rider was deposited at the General Hospital, Ifo.
He further disclosed that officials cleared the accident scene by towing both the damaged tricycle and the Howo truck off the roadway to restore the free flow of traffic and prevent further obstruction.
The TRACE spokesperson urged motorists to exercise patience, remain vigilant while driving, and avoid reckless behaviour on the road, stressing that adherence to traffic regulations remains crucial in reducing the growing number of avoidable road crashes across the state.
Global Mirror News learnt that the latest accident adds to a series of road traffic incidents recorded on major highways in Ogun State, prompting renewed calls for motorists to prioritise safety and maintain clear visibility, especially during night-time travel.
