NUJ Ogun Secretary Bunmi Adigun Celebrates Kurunmi of Ijaye-Egbaland on First Coronation Anniversary

The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has congratulated Aare (Prof.) Lái Lábodé, the Kurunmi of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland, on the occasion of his first anniversary on the throne, describing his reign as one marked by purposeful leadership, unity, and remarkable community development.
In a congratulatory message released to Global Mirror News on Saturday June 27, Adigun, who identified himself as a proud son of Ìjàyè with ancestral roots in the Oladosu Compound on his paternal side and the Anigbio Compound on his maternal side, praised the traditional ruler for transforming the ancient town within just one year of ascending the throne.
According to him, the monarch’s leadership has rekindled hope among the people, enhanced the visibility of Ìjàyè, and restored pride among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.
Adigun stated that the first anniversary of the monarch was not only a celebration of one year of royal leadership but also a testament to visionary governance, unwavering dedication, and selfless service to the people of Ìjàyè-Ègbáland.
He commended Prof. Lábodé for redefining traditional leadership through inclusiveness, community engagement, and developmental initiatives that have elevated the status of the historic town across Egbaland and beyond.
“As someone whose paternal and maternal heritage is firmly rooted in Ìjàyè, I have watched with immense pride as your administration continues to inspire confidence and attract meaningful development. Your accessibility, wisdom, and commitment to preserving our rich cultural heritage while embracing modern progress have earned you widespread respect,” he said.
The NUJ secretary also noted that journalists appreciate leaders who value truth, dialogue, accountability, and community participation, adding that the monarch’s reign has reflected these ideals by fostering peace, unity, and a sense of belonging among all sons and daughters of Ìjàyè.
He prayed for the continued success of the traditional ruler, asking God to grant him sound health, divine wisdom, long life, and many more years of impactful leadership.
Adigun further expressed hope that the palace would remain a symbol of justice, peace, prosperity, and enduring progress, while urging the people of Ìjàyè to continue supporting the monarch’s vision for the development of the community.
He concluded by congratulating Aare (Prof.) Lái Lábodé once again on the milestone, wishing him greater accomplishments and lasting glory throughout his reign.
