Gov. Abiodun Appoints Six Permanent Secretaries to Strengthen Ogun Civil Service

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of six new Permanent Secretaries as part of efforts to strengthen the leadership structure of the state’s Civil/Public Service and sustain ongoing public sector reforms.
The appointments, announced on Friday by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Saka, followed vacancies created by the statutory retirement of some Permanent Secretaries.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Dr. Solomon Oluseyi Sokunbi, Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye Akinwunmi, Mr. Adedeji Akanbi Sowunmi, Mr. Olumide Olusola Ogunbo, Mr. Dolamu Isaiah Idowu-Agida, and Tpl. Musinat Abiola Ayodele.
According to the Head of Service, the appointments were made by Governor Abiodun in accordance with Section 208(c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), after due consideration of merit, professionalism, competence, and inclusiveness.
Saka disclosed that all six appointees had successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a mandatory requirement for officers seeking appointment into top leadership positions within the state’s Civil/Public Service, including the office of Permanent Secretary.
He highlighted the professional backgrounds of the newly appointed officials, noting that before their elevation, Dr. Sokunbi served as Director of Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health, while Mr. Akinwunmi was Director of Chieftaincy Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Similarly, Mr. Sowunmi served as Director of Investments in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments; Mr. Ogunbo was the Project Manager of the Ogun State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN); Mr. Idowu-Agida served as Director of Administration and Supplies in the Bureau of Government House and General Services; while Tpl. Ayodele was Director of Urban Development in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The Head of Service explained that the appointments reflect the Abiodun administration’s commitment to building a more efficient, responsive and result-driven public service capable of delivering quality governance to the people of Ogun State.
He said the new Permanent Secretaries have been urged to demonstrate exemplary leadership, integrity, professionalism, dedication and selfless service in the discharge of their responsibilities, in line with the administration’s Building Our Future Together agenda.
Saka expressed confidence that the appointees would play significant roles in driving the ongoing transformation of the Ogun State Civil/Public Service and enhancing effective service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.
He further disclosed that Governor Abiodun will formally swear in the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries on a date to be announced.
