Woman Dies in Lagos Hit-and-Run as Driver Flees Scene

A female pedestrian identified as a member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has been killed in a hit-and-run crash at the NYSC Bus Stop in the Igando area of Lagos State.

Global Mirror News gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday February 14, as the victim was reportedly heading to a worship service at MFM Church, Igando, when she was struck by a Mercedes-Benz C-300.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that its operatives swiftly responded to distress calls from the scene.

According to the Agency, Officers stationed along the Igando corridor moved promptly to secure the Area, cordoning off the accident site to prevent secondary collisions and safeguard other road users.

However, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz allegedly fled immediately after realising the severity of the crash.

Describing the act as condemnable, LASTMA noted that fleeing the scene of an accident constitutes a serious breach of traffic laws and civic responsibility.

The damaged vehicle was later evacuated from the roadway by LASTMA officials in collaboration with officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division.

Police authorities have commenced investigations aimed at tracking down and apprehending the fleeing driver.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olajide Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and the MFM Church community, characterising the incident as deeply tragic.

He reiterated the Agency’s commitment to enforcing traffic discipline and protecting lives, urging motorists to obey speed limits, remain vigilant on the roads, and respect pedestrian right-of-way at all times.
