WAEC Unveils 2026 WASSCE Timetable, Exams to Begin April 21

The West African Examinations Council has officially released the timetable for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School candidates, setting April 21, 2026, as the commencement date.

According to the final International schedule published on Monday March 30, the examination will run from Tuesday, April 21, to Friday, June 19, 2026, covering candidates across member Countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.

Global Mirror News gathered that the examination will commence with practical planning sessions for Foods and Nutrition 3 and Home Management 3 before other written papers begin in subsequent days. The timetable also includes core subjects such as English Language and Mathematics, alongside a wide range of science, arts, commercial, technical and vocational subjects.

The WASSCE remains one of the most important examinations for secondary school students seeking admission into Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education across West Africa. Candidates are expected to sit for compulsory subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Civic Education, in addition to electives relevant to their chosen field of study.

Education stakeholders have advised students and schools to obtain the full timetable early and begin intensive preparations ahead of the examination period to avoid missing any paper or practical session.

Parents and school administrators have also been urged to monitor any further updates from WAEC regarding examination venues, instructions to candidates and possible timetable adjustments.
