WAEC Releases 2026 CB-WASSCE Results, Records Improved Performance Among Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 First Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, marking another milestone in its transition to digital assessment.
Global Mirror News gathered that the examination body announced the release on Friday 27 March, confirming that candidates who participated in the exam can access their results within 12 hours via its official platforms.
According to WAEC, the computer-based examination, conducted between January 28 and February 14, 2026, is part of ongoing reforms aimed at modernising the examination process and improving efficiency in service delivery.
The Council disclosed that the marking of scripts and coordination of examiners took place across multiple centres, including Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna, involving hundreds of examiners to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Performance data from the released results indicates a modest improvement compared to previous years. A higher percentage of candidates obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, reflecting a positive trend in academic outcomes.
In addition, reports show that thousands of candidates participated in the examination Nationwide, with a significant number meeting the benchmark for University admission requirements.
WAEC expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including supervisors, examiners, and candidates, for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth and successful examination process. The Council reiterated its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance credibility, speed, and accessibility in its operations.
