Unruly Passenger: Comfort Emmanson Remanded in Kirikiri for Ibom Air Flight Assault

A passenger, Comfort Emmanson, has been remanded in the Kirikiri correctional facility after allegedly assaulting crew members and security personnel on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025. Emmanson, who reportedly behaved unruly from the start, refused to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff, despite crew instructions.

Upon arrival in Lagos, the situation escalated, and Emmanson allegedly physically assaulted a purser and another cabin crew member. In a shocking display of aggression, she also attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon.

Following the incident, Ibom Air took swift action, placing a permanent travel restriction on Emmanson and submitting a detailed report to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Emmanson was subsequently arraigned on charges related to her violent conduct on the flight and is now in custody at the correctional facility, as confirmed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

This decisive action underscores the aviation industry’s zero-tolerance policy for disruptive and violent behavior that compromises the safety and security of flight operations, passengers, and crew members. The incident highlights the importance of maintaining order and respect on flights to ensure the well-being of everyone on board.
