Two Men Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors

Global Mirror News gathered that Police Authorities in Southwest Nigeria have arrested two men in separate incidents over alleged sexual abuse of minors.

In Ibadan, Oyo State, a 65-year-old man, identified as Ibrahim Raheem, was arrested for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

The Oyo State Police Command, through Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade, said the girl was reportedly coerced and indecently assaulted multiple times throughout December 2025 while hawking at Onikeke in the Ayegun area of the city.

“The suspect has been apprehended and has confessed to indecently abusing the child, though he denied engaging in carnal knowledge,” Ayanlade said.

“Following the discovery of these acts, the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for comprehensive medical examination and socio-psychological care to address the trauma of the ordeal.”

In a separate incident in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, James Osita, 32, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in the headquarters of Ile-Oluji Local Council Area.

Police sources said the teenager had reportedly been sexually abused on multiple occasions before officers intervened.

Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed the arrest, saying: “On 5th February 2026, a report was made that a 13-year-old female was allegedly sexually abused by one Osita James at Asio, Ile-Oluji.

Upon receipt of the report, the victim was promptly rescued and taken for a medical examination.

The suspect was immediately apprehended and is cooperating with investigators. He has reportedly confessed to the crime, and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

Authorities said these arrests reflect the reform-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, emphasizing gender-sensitive policing, accountability, and proactive responses to sexual and gender-based violence nationwide.

Police urged members of the public to remain vigilant, provide credible information promptly, and support efforts to protect children and vulnerable persons, emphasizing that community collaboration is key to ending such crimes.
