Arise TV: Twelve Suspects Nabbed in Connection with Anchor’s Death

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested twelve suspects in connection with the death of Arise Television anchor, Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, whose tragic passing has stirred widespread outrage and grief across the Country.

Police sources confirmed that the suspects were apprehended following an intensive investigation into the incident, which occurred during an armed robbery attack at Unique Apartments in Gishiri, Katampe, Abuja.

Reports indicate that the 29-year-old journalist, in a bid to escape the assailants who invaded her residence in the early hours of September 29, jumped from her third-floor apartment.

She was rushed to Maitama General Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

According to the FCT Police Command, the operation that led to the arrest of the suspects was coordinated by the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, with support from forensic and intelligence experts.

Recovered items include firearms, ammunition, and stolen personal effects belonging to the victims.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured that justice would be served, emphasizing the commitment of the police to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.

The late anchor’s colleagues and friends have continued to mourn her loss, describing her as a courageous journalist and a rising star in Nigeria’s Broadcast Industry.
