“Don’t Travel At Night”: NYSC Gives Corps Members Urgent Travel Warning Ahead of Batch ‘A’ Stream II

The National Youth Service Corps has warned prospective corps members mobilised for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II service year against travelling at night as preparations begin for the Nationwide orientation exercise.
In a statement issued on Wednesday April 8 by Caroline Embu, the scheme said the 21-day orientation course would be held simultaneously in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Global Mirror News gathered that the orientation programme will commence with the reception and registration of prospective corps members on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, while registration will close at midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026.
According to the statement, all prospective corps members mobilised for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II service year will be sworn in on Friday, April 24, 2026.
“The Orientation Course will come to an end on Tuesday, 12th May, 2026,” Embu stated.
The NYSC management wished all mobilised Nigerian graduates safe journeys to their various orientation camps across Nigeria, but stressed that they must not travel at night.
Embu said prospective corps members should suspend their journeys once it is 6:00 p.m. and continue the next morning.
“The prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it’s 6.00pm, and pass the night at any available corps members’ lodge, military formation, police station/outpost or palace of a traditional ruler anywhere in the Country, then continue the following morning,” she said.
The NYSC also used the opportunity to reassure corps members that adequate arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the orientation exercise in every State of the federation and the FCT.
The latest warning comes amid growing concerns over the safety of travellers and corps members moving across different parts of the country for the annual orientation exercise.
