Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Seven Wedding Guests in Gombe
At least seven people from Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Saturday while travelling to a wedding ceremony in Maiduguri, Borno State, Global Mirror News reports.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims were en route to attend a wedding when their vehicle collided along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway.
The crash has sent shockwaves through the Lawanti community, with families left devastated by the sudden loss.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya described the incident as “deeply tragic” and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He noted that the loss of loved ones in such circumstances is profoundly painful, and prayed for strength and comfort for those affected.
Among the victims are relatives of prominent local figures.
The District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari lost his daughter; and Idris A. Isah Lawanti, councillor representing Akko Ward, also lost close family members in the accident.
