Tinubu Nominates Bernard Doro as Minister to Replace Yilwatda

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

Doro’s nomination comes after the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who became the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

The nomination was announced in a statement on Tuesday, 21st October , 2025 by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Presidency sources revealed that Tinubu, during a private meeting with close aides on Monday evening, discussed his plan to fill two ministerial vacancies — including that of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, which became vacant after the recent resignation of its occupant.

Dr Bernard Doro, a development economist and public policy expert, hails from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the University of Jos and previously served as a Senior Technical Adviser to the Plateau State Government on Economic Planning. He has also worked with several international development agencies on poverty reduction and rural empowerment projects.

The nomination is expected to be considered by the Senate in the coming days as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the Federal Executive Council and ensure the smooth implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
