Third Mainland Bridge Crash Leaves Many Injured

A devastating accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Monday, July 7, 2025, leaving several passengers injured. The incident involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Camry, which collided before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island.

According to eyewitnesses, the commercial bus somersaulted multiple times after the collision, resulting in injuries to several passengers. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities in the incident.

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials responded quickly to the scene, providing first aid to the injured and managing the rescue operation. Police personnel from the Adekunle Police Division also assisted in the rescue efforts.

“We received a distress call about an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, and our teams rushed to the scene to provide assistance,” said an RRS spokesperson. “Our men are currently assisting with first aid while officers of the Adekunle Police Division are also providing rescue support.”

The injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, and the wreckage was cleared from the bridge to restore normal traffic flow. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but excessive speeding is suspected to be a contributing factor.

This incident highlights the importance of safe driving practices and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such accidents. The Lagos State government has urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads and report any incidents to the authorities promptly.
