Teen Wife Arrested Over Brutal Assault on Husband

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old housewife following a violent domestic incident that left her husband critically injured in Potiskum Local Government Area of the State.

Global Mirror News gathered that the incident occurred on Friday after a heated disagreement between the couple. Police officers were alerted through a distress call and arrived to find the male victim lying unconscious and bleeding heavily inside his room.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby clinic for emergency care before being referred to the Azare Medical Centre for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe State, Dungus Abdulkarim, said the suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident but was tracked and arrested on Monday.

According to Abdulkarim, preliminary investigations revealed that the young woman allegedly used a sharp object during the altercation, inflicting life-threatening injuries on her husband. He added that investigators have not yet obtained a detailed statement from the victim due to his critical medical condition.

“The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the attack,” the police spokesperson stated.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing concern over domestic violence across Nigeria, with authorities urging couples to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving disputes.
