Teen Caught With Pistol Names Father, Ogun Police Arrest Both

A 13-year-old boy allegedly found with a locally made pistol and a live cartridge has led Police to the arrest of his father in Ogun State.
The suspects, identified as Kehinde Joseph, 38, and his son, John Joseph, were apprehended along the Sagamu/Ogijo Road after operatives of the Ogun State Police Command intercepted the teenager during a stop-and-search operation.
Global Mirror News learnt that the boy was travelling in a tricycle around the Lafarge area at about 11 a.m. on Sunday when Officers of the command’s Quick Response Squad stopped and searched him.
During the search, Police reportedly recovered a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and a face mask from the teenager.
According to the Police, the boy could not explain the items found in his possession and later claimed that the firearm belonged to his father.
Following the disclosure, Officers tracked down and arrested Kehinde Joseph.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, saying both suspects and the recovered items had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Global Mirror News gathered that the father and son may be charged to court after the conclusion of the Police investigation.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police also commended the Officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to tackle illegal possession of firearms and other criminal activities in the State.
