Tanker–Motorcycle Crash Claims Two Lives on Epe–Ijebu Road

A fatal traffic accident on Tuesday, December 13, left two people dead after a petroleum tanker collided with a commercial motorcycle at Pokia Junction, inward Araga, along the busy Epe–Ijebu Road in Lagos State.
Global Mirror News gathered that the incident involved an empty Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker and a motorcycle conveying a male rider and a passenger.
The crash occurred in the Epe axis, a corridor known for heavy vehicular movement, particularly by articulated trucks and tankers.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that their operatives promptly moved to the scene to manage traffic, secure the area, and coordinate emergency response.
The tanker driver was taken into custody and handed over to the Nigeria Police at the Noforija Police Division for further investigation.
In a reaction, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Mr. Sola Giwa, described the incident as a painful reminder of the risks associated with traffic violations and unsafe road practices.
He urged motorists and commercial motorcycle operators to comply strictly with traffic regulations, especially on restricted routes and around heavy-duty vehicles.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to enforcing road safety laws and strengthening public awareness campaigns aimed at reducing accidents and safeguarding lives on major highways across the State.
