Studio of Silence: Grief, Questions as Gospel Artiste, Crew Found Dead in Lagos

Global Mirror News has gathered that grief and outrage have continued to trail the mysterious deaths of a gospel artiste and three members of his crew, who were found lifeless inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos State, sparking renewed calls for justice and transparency.

The tragedy, which occurred midweek, claimed the lives of Matthew Ogundele, popularly known in gospel circles as Segun Praise, alongside Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and a blogger and content creator, Matthew Awosanya, widely known as JoesTv. The incident has left families devastated and the Christian music community in shock.

Speaking in a deeply emotional appeal captured in a viral Facebook video monitored by Global Mirror News, the mother of one of the deceased described the deaths as suspicious and unbearable. She narrated how her son and his colleagues had left home on Tuesday after being invited to minister at a praise programme in Ajah, but never returned.

According to her account, repeated calls to their phones went unanswered, prompting family members to travel to Ajah in search of them. After days of anxious searching, the families were reportedly led to the studio where the four young men were found dead.

“Please help me, Nigerians. Do not let my pain be in vain,” she pleaded, alleging that the condition of the bodies raised serious concerns about what might have happened to them during the night they spent in the studio.

Global Mirror News gathered that the victims were scheduled to minister on the second day of a three-day birthday praise programme organised by a fellow gospel artiste, Olanireti Akinbola.

A Police source disclosed that the music session extended late into the night, leading the crew to lodge overnight in the studio due to the distance to their homes.

Their bodies were reportedly discovered the following morning after the studio owner returned and found the door locked from the inside. When the door was forced open, the four were found unresponsive.

Images circulating online and reviewed by Global Mirror News showed what appeared to be stains around the noses, mouths, and ears of the victims, intensifying public concern and speculation over the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command said the case was reported by the studio owner and that preliminary checks revealed no visible signs of physical violence.

The bodies were evacuated to the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, where they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor before being deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

Police authorities further disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for detailed investigation, as pressure mounts from families, colleagues, and members of the public demanding clarity and justice.

As mourning continues, Global Mirror News reports that social media platforms have been flooded with tributes, protests, and calls for an independent and thorough probe, with many insisting that the truth behind the studio deaths must not be swept under the carpet.
