Speeding Bus Hits Broken-Down Truck on Ogun Expressway, Four Dead

Four persons lost their lives in a tragic late-night road crash along the Ijebu-Ode/Ore Expressway in Ogun State after a speeding commercial bus rammed into a stationary truck.
Global Mirror News gathered that yhe fatal accident occurred around the Ijebu-Imushin axis of the highway and involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a MAN diesel truck that had reportedly broken down while being towed.
According to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the truck was being pulled by another vehicle when the towing chain suddenly snapped, leaving it stranded on the road. Moments later, the oncoming bus, said to be travelling at high speed, crashed into the immobile truck.
Global Mirror News learnt that all four occupants of the bus — two men and two women — died instantly from severe injuries sustained in the collision. No survivor was recorded.
FRSC officials said the driver of the towing vehicle fled the scene immediately after the crash, abandoning the broken-down truck behind.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident and evacuated the bodies to the State Hospital mortuary in Ijebu-Ode, while the police from the Imushin Division took over the scene and commenced an investigation.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwunmi Fasakin, warned motorists against excessive speeding, especially during night journeys, and stressed the need for proper towing equipment to avoid similar tragedies on the highways.
