Sanwo-Olu Rewards 177 Lagos Workers with Cars, N165.5m Cash at Public Service Week Finale

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded 177 outstanding public servants in the State with five brand-new cars and cash incentives totalling ₦165.5 million, in recognition of their dedication, discipline and exceptional service to the state.

The rewards were presented at the 2025 Mr Governor’s Luncheon, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, marking the grand finale of activities for the Lagos State Public Service Week.

Under the Senior Officers’ category, five workers won brand-new cars through a raffle draw, while 94 others received ₦1 million each.

In the Junior Officers’ category, five awardees were presented with ₦5 million each, while 73 others received ₦500,000 each, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 177.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the initiative was designed to motivate public servants and reinforce the state Government’s resolve to promote excellence, accountability and professionalism in the Civil Service.

He urged workers across all cadres to remain committed to efficient service delivery, integrity and innovation, stressing that a motivated workforce is central to Lagos State’s development Agenda.

The Governor also announced the promotion of Mrs Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, former Director-General of the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), to the rank of Permanent Secretary, in recognition of her leadership and contributions to institutional reforms.

In addition, he presented a ₦10 million cash award to staff of the Office of Transformation for their role in projecting Lagos State positively on the National and Global stage.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, disclosed that the award recipients were selected from 312 nominations drawn from Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Government Areas.

He explained that the selection process was transparent and rigorous, ensuring that only deserving officers were honoured.

Agoro praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support for workers’ welfare, noting that the rewards would further boost morale, encourage healthy competition and inspire higher productivity within the public service.

The luncheon also marked the climax of the 2025 Public Service Week, which featured activities such as medical screenings, fitness walks, public lectures, talent exhibitions, long-service awards and support programmes for children with disabilities.
