Sanwo-Olu Appoints Dr. Ogunmuyiwa as New DG of Lagos Education Quality Assurance

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), signaling a renewed push to strengthen oversight and elevate learning standards across the State.

The appointment letter was formally presented to Ogunmuyiwa on Thursday by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, at the Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa, a seasoned education administrator with over 25 years of professional experience, has served in several strategic departments within the OEQA. His past roles include Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and Director of Private Education and Special Programmes, during which he supervised school accreditation, compliance monitoring, and the enforcement of quality benchmarks across public and private institutions.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, alongside two master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance & Counselling. He is also a graduate of the University of Lagos where he earned his first degree in Education.

Widely regarded as one of the most committed officers in the agency, Ogunmuyiwa has received multiple commendations and awards—including repeated recognition as Best Staff of the OEQA between 2012 and 2022.

His appointment is expected to strengthen the state’s agenda for improved monitoring, evaluation, and accountability across Lagos schools.
