Rivers Governor Fubara Defects to APC in Major Political Realignment

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor made the announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, stating that the move followed consultations with political allies, traditional leaders and key interest groups across the State.

Fubara’s defection comes amid a wave of crossovers to the APC by several prominent political figures this year. Political analysts say the development could reshape party strength in the South-South region, where the PDP has historically maintained dominance.

The APC is expected to formally receive the Governor at an upcoming event in Abuja, while the PDP leadership is also preparing an official response.
