Ritual Murder in Ogun: Teenager’s Mutilated Body Found, Suspects Arrested

A 16-year-old boy, Lawal Wahab, has been found dead and mutilated in Ogun State, Nigeria. The Police have arrested suspects in connection with the killing, which has been described as a suspected ritual murder.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, Wahab’s decomposing body was discovered on July 23 along the Old Express Road in Igbile-Ijebu. The teenager had been declared missing by his father, Lawal Olumide, before his body was found.
A preliminary examination of the body revealed that the head, both wrists, heart, and genitals had been gruesomely removed, suggesting ritualistic motives. The Police described the case as a disturbing case of suspected ritual murder.
The Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing, identified as Salawu Omikansola (25 years), Serefusi Agemo, and others. One of the suspects made a voluntary confessional statement, which was recorded on video.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and the circumstances surrounding the killing. She said, “Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, Officers from Omu-Ijebu Division apprehended suspects identified as Salawu Omikansola (25 years), Serefusi Agemo, and others.”
Due to the state of the remains, Wahab was buried in accordance with Islamic rites. The police confirmed that the deceased had been buried, saying, “The deceased has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites, due to the state of the remains.”
The Police are still working to arrest other fleeing accomplices and bring them to justice. The case file and relevant exhibits are being prepared for immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran.
The Ogun State Police Command has condemned the heinous act and assured the public that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion. The Command has also urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
The incident has raised concerns about safety and security in the Community, and many are calling for increased measures to protect citizens, especially vulnerable individuals like teenagers. The Police are working to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure that those responsible for this crime are held accountable.
