Protect Worship Centres, Free Abducted Believers — Southern Kaduna Christians Appeal to Government

Global Mirror News gathered that Christian leaders in Southern Kaduna have renewed calls on the Federal and Kaduna State Governments, alongside security agencies, to urgently strengthen the protection of churches and other worship centres following recent attacks and abductions in the Area.
The appeal was made during the 2026 Southern Kaduna Prayer Summit held at the New Township Stadium in Kafanchan, where religious leaders expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of worshippers abducted in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area, on January 18.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association, Apostle Emmanuel Kure, lamented what he described as the slow pace of rescue efforts, noting that many of the abducted victims — including women, children and the elderly — were seized while observing church activities.
According to him, families of the abducted worshippers are being subjected to heavy ransom demands that rural communities cannot afford, worsening their economic and emotional hardship. He urged the authorities to intensify intelligence-driven operations to secure the immediate release of those still in captivity.
Apostle Kure also stressed the need for proactive security around worship centres, calling on both Christian and Muslim communities to collaborate with security agencies to prevent further attacks on religious sites. He warned that continued assaults on holy places could erode public confidence in the ability of the State to guarantee safety.
While acknowledging limited security resources, the Christian leader encouraged community vigilance and stronger government commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Southern Kaduna.
Also speaking at the summit, a federal lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency called for sustained prayers for peace, unity and development in the region, while urging governments at all levels to address infrastructural challenges as part of long-term stability efforts.
